Anakin Skywalker served the Galactic Republic as a Jedi Knight, he lost his way and fell to the dark side of the Force becoming Darth Vader.

Here we are going to look at 18 fun facts about Anakin… or should we call him Vader..?

Originally, Anakin Skywalker was called Anikan Starkiller.

Shmi Skywalker is the oldest known Skywalker ancestor and is the mother of Anakin.

Anakin’s mother claimed that her son was conceived without a father, Qui-Gon Jinn theorised that the will of the Force caused his birth.

He is the father of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa.

His homeworld is Tatooine.

He was born 41.9 BBY.

Anakin became a Jedi Knight in 22 BBY.

Three years later, Anakin battled Obi-Wan Kenobi on the site of a volcano and was badly wounded, this was when he was reborn as Darth Vader.

Darth Vader’s mask was designed by Ralph McQuarrie. It was originally supposed to be only worn as part of Vader’s spacesuit, it wasn’t intended to be part of the regular costume.

In the novel Splinter of the Mind’s Eye (1978), Darth Vader and Luke duel, and Luke cuts off Vader’s right arm.

Darth Vader was played by six different actors throughout the films. David Prowse and Bob Anderson played him in Episodes IV-VI. James Earl Jones voiced his character in episodes III-VI. Sebastian Shaw played him in Episode VI. Jake Lloyd in Episode I and Hayden Christensen in Episode II and Episode III.

David Prowse was convinced the film would be a massive flop, and he refused to allow his name in the original credits, as he didn’t want this destroying his career.

The original Star Wars teaser was narrated by Orson Welles, who was the original choice to voice Darth Vader.

Darth Vader never says “Luke, I am your father.” – This line is never spoken in a Star Wars film, what is actually said is: “No, I am your father”.

In 2010, IGN ranked Darth Vader 25th in the “Top 100 Video games Villains”.

Darth Vader died in 4ABY, after showing his face to his son, so that he could see Luke with his own eyes, not through the lens filters of his mask. This was also the first time Luke saw his fathers face.

Luke took his fathers armor to the forest moon of Endor, where Vader’s armor was cremated in the manner of a Jedi.

The serial number on Darth Vader’s suit of armor was E-3778Q-1.
